Betsy Linnell

Betsy Linnell is a true ski industry professional. With a career spanning several decades, she brings a unique blend of practical skills and professional experience to her work as a ski instructor.
Betsy grew up skiing and racing at the club level at Talisman Resort in southern Ontario. She attended Bishop’s University in Quebec, where she raced for the varsity ski team as well as worked part-time as an instructor at Owl’s Head in the Eastern Townships. Upon graduating with a Business Degree focused on Marketing, she moved west to try teaching skiing full-time at Big White Resort near Kelowna, BC. In 1994, Betsy moved to Whistler to train and work with the ski school at Whistler Mountain under the guidance of Otto Kamstra. She achieved the CSIA Level 4 that season.
The skills gained as a ski instructor, combined with her business degree created opportunities within the industry that shaped Betsy’s career. Betsy held senior roles within the marketing division of Whistler Blackcomb, she launched and managed a boutique marketing agency and has worked with industry leaders in resort real estate marketing.
Betsy’s passion for the sport and teaching skiing was reignited in 2015 when she re-joined the Snow School at Whistler Blackcomb as a part-time instructor. By 2017, she resumed work as a Course Conductor and was appointed as the BC representative on the CSIA Education Committee. Betsy’s focus on professional development continued and was recognized. Betsy was hired as the CSIA Course Supervisor for Whistler in 2017 before stepping into her current role as the Regional Administrative Coordinator for BC in 2018. In 2022, Betsy achieved her goal of becoming a Level 4 Course Conductor.
Betsy is committed to personal and professional development. She continues to push to achieve new levels of skiing performance and to gain a deeper understanding of ski technique and education. Betsy’s students are the beneficiaries of this dedication. She recently travelled to New Zealand to work as a Trainer for the prestigious Rookie Academy at Treble Cone and Cardrona Resorts. Closer to home Betsy spends most of her on-snow time in Whistler training and certifying ski instructors for the CSIA.
Betsy has a passion for skiing and teaching that is driven by her desire to continuously improve and deliver lessons that lead to lasting improvement for her students.
